Tips & Tricks

  1. Clean the washing machine inside and out. Take out the lint filters and let soak in some warm water and Thieves Dish Soap. Then scrub with an old toothbrush to get all the gunk out. Put the filters back in the washing machine. Put a capful of Thieves Household Cleaner concentrate in the machine and put on the Tub Clean cycle if it has it. Spray your Thieves Household Cleaner over the washing machine and wipe down with a cloth.

  2. Clean out your hand bag / nappy bag. Take everything out of your hand bag / nappy bag and shake out any crumbs etc out of the bag (I hope I’m not the only one with crumbs in my bag lol). Re pack it and don’t forget to include your Thieves Hand Sanitizer and Thieves Spray (they both come in the Premium Starter Bundle) to clean any yucky surfaces when out and about including shopping trolleys and public toilets.

  3. Diffuse Thieves essential oil blend. The easiest task in this challenge - diffuse Thieves for a fresh smelling home. It helps purify the air and is also a wellness booster, so is fantastic to diffuse when feeling sick.

  4. Deodorise your shoes. In a small spray bottle add Peppermint EO and Thieves EO. Fill the bottle half way with alcohol-free Witch Hazel. Then fill the remaining half of the bottle with distilled water (cooled, boiled water). Shake it up and lightly spray inside shoes. Make sure to get to the toe part of the shoes as there’s usually lots of germs and odours in there. Make sure shoes dry properly before wearing. (Tip: you can also use this on any smelly sports gear including knee and elbow pads, gym bags, yoga mats etc.)

  5. Clean range hood. Detach the range hood filter and cover with Thieves Dish Soap. Soak in tub of water for at least half an hour, scrub if needed. Ensure it dried properly before reattaching.

  6. Deodorise kitchen drain. Put a few drops of Lemon essential oil down the drain and then some bicarb soda. Then pour a few glugs of white vinegar down the drain followed by some boiling water down it to get rid of any lingering smells. If you’ve heard about how bicarb and vinegar cancel each other out, here’s an interesting article about using it in the kitchen drain or garbage disposal > https://www.apartmenttherapy.com/vinegar-baking-soda-cleaning-mixture-myth-36880375 . Up to you if you’d like to use just bicarb or just vinegar, or use together.

  7. Flip and deodorise mattress. For this you can either use the Thieves Kitchen & Bath Scrub or make up a mix of bicarb soda and essential oils (I suggest either Thieves, Tea Tree or Lemon). Use a sieve to sprinkle over mattress. Leave for as long as you can and then vacuum up.

  8. Clean the oven. First, take the dish racks out and soak in your laundry sink (or bath tub). To avoid scratching the bottom of the tub, lay down some tea towels first. Fill the tub (high enough to cover the racks) with hot water + Thieves Dish Soap + Thieves Household Cleaner concentrate. Let it soak for an hour or so, then using heavy duty scotch brite pads, give the racks a good scrub. Then rinse off and allow to dry. For inside the oven, wipe out what you can (any dropped crumbs etc). Then using either your natural gumption (DIY HERE) or the Thieves Kitchen & Bath Scrub, apply to inside of oven (including the inside of the door) and using a heavy duty sponge with a bit of hot water, give it all a scrub. To rinse it, use a lightly wet microfiber cloth to wipe it all out.

  9. Clean the microwave. Use your Thieves all purpose cleaner for this one. Don’t forget to clean under the tray and also the buttons on the outside of the microwave.

  10. Descale kettle. Add 10 drops Lemon essential oil and 2 tbsp Citric Acid (you can purchase this from Woollies and Coles) to your kettle. Top with water, boil, let sit for 15 minutes and then rinse a couple of times. This gets rid of any limescale on the bottom of the kettle.

  11. Clean doorknobs and light switches. Spray a cloth with your Thieves Household Cleaner and wipe down all doorknobs and light switches. If you’re feeling motivated, tackle the power point switches too!

  12. Wipe down kitchen cabinets. Spray the cabinet doors with your Thieves Household Cleaner and wipe with a microfiber cloth with hot water.

  13. Declutter clothes to sell/donate. Go through your clothes, and if you haven’t worn it in a year, get rid of it! Donate at your local op shop to give them a second life. Or if you have the time and patience, sell them on FaceBook MarketPlace.

  14. Clean fridge inside and out. Take everything out of the fridge, and remove the shelving. Spray your Thieves Household Cleaner all inside the fridge and wipe with a cloth and warm water. Do the same with the individual shelves and then return them back into the fridge. Put all your food back in the fridge and throw out anything that’s old or out of date. Do the same with the freezer. Take off any magnets etc from the fridge. Spray the outside of the fridge with Thieves Household Cleaner and wipe down with cloth and warm water.

  15. Clean under couch cushions. Take all the cushions off your couche/s and give the couch a vacuum. Depending on your couch, you can also unzip the covers and give them a wash. Alternatively spray with Thieves Household Cleaner and wipe with a warm cloth.

  16. Wipe down dining room furniture. Yep, you guessed it… Thieves Household Cleaner and a warm cloth for this one too. It really does it all! Get the areas you don’t normally clean like the table legs, chair legs, and under the table etc.

  17. Clean walls. There’s many different ways to do this, give this one a Google if you need. What I’ll be doing is dusting the walls with our dry Sabco mop. Then using Thieves Household Cleaner and a warm cloth to clean off the grubby marks from our toddler (and tradie partner who likes to touch the door jam and walls after work apparently).

  18. Clean vacuum. I suggest doing a search on YouTube to find out how to clean your specific vacuum cleaner properly.

  19. Clean out junk drawers. Take everything out and spray drawer with your Thieves Household Cleaner and wipe it down. Throw out as much as you can, put any important receipts together (a zip lock bag / pencil case / bull dog clipped together). Use trays to organise your drawer, Kmart have some great clear trays in a heap of different sizes.

  20. Dust ceiling fans and light fixtures. I’m sure this is common sense, but make sure the fans and lights are TURNED OFF before you start this one. Try to dust from top to bottom, and inside to outside. Hot tip for dusting any ceiling fans: use an old pillowcase to dust it off. Tuck the fan blade inside the pillow case and then dust it off. This way dust doesn’t go flying around the rest of the room.

  21. Pair up unmatched socks and discard the rest. If you’re like me and have a big collection of unmatched socks, there’s no better time than now to have a look at it and match up what you can. For any socks that have lost their mate, recycle them if you can, (eg. dusting mit, cleaning rag, or even this DIY scented sachet HERE), otherwise bin them.

  22. Clean all mirrors. Thieves Household Cleaner and cloth for this one too.

  23. Clean bins. Hose the inside of the bins to rinse them out. Add Thieves Dish Soap, White Vinegar and a few drops of Lemon essential oil (or Thieves or Tea Tree) and fill about a third of the way with water. Let sit for half an hour. Scrub if necessary (if cleaning your wheelie bins, use an outdoor broom to scrub). Then allow to dry.

  24. Wipe down baseboards. Use a small brush vacuum attachment on the baseboards or a cloth. For any marks, use some Thieves Household Cleaner and a warm cloth.

  25. Clean car inside and out. Use Thieves Household Cleaner and a cloth for wiping down the inside of the car. Vacuum mats, floors and seats. For the outside of the car add 2 capfuls of Thieves Household Cleaner concentrate to a bucket and fill with water. Hose down the car and using a sponge, wash with the Thieves solution. Rinse off and let dry.

Let’s get cleaning!!!
